Appeal Advisory Committee

Upon refusal of a planning application, an applicant or its Agent has the right to submit an appeal to the Minister of Land Use and Housing within a period of 30 days. The Appeals Advisory Committee (AAC) advises the Minister on all appeal cases. This Committee is currently chaired by Mr Yves Choppy, assisted by two other personnel; one from the Survey Department and the other from the Department of Environment.

The roles of members of the Appeals Advisory Committee are to evaluate facts vis-à-vis reasons for the refusal, conduct site visits and also interview applicants. This Committee thereafter reports to and advise the Minister of their observations and provides recommendation. The Minister then makes a decision as mandated under the ‘powers’ vested  by the Town and Country Planning Act Cap 237.
